Ooona Toolkit: Validation Features We Love

We are continually impressed with the features that the Ooona Toolkit brings out.

One of our favorite latest additions is the Validation feature in Project settings. A new feature which is much welcomed in this era where delivering high quality and error free subtitles are of the upmost importance.

We appreciate the simplicity of the Validation tab, which includes specific QA checks for validating subtitle content, ensuring that subtitles adhere to the industry standards.

The tab allows users to assign validation rules for a settings template. With one of these boxes checked, the Toolkit marks subtitles with the corresponding issue. You can see the exact problem by hovering over the error icon, displayed on the top of the subtitle box.

The ability to warn on 2 or 4 dots, or on multiple spaces is such a useful feature as these typos can creep in, and they are very untidy and unforgivable errors.

Other warnings in the Validation tab we love and which are highly useful are: partial italics, leading/trailing space, alignment, reading speed, uppercase after comma and underlined or bold subtitles.

The Validation tab was created with the user in mind, allowing very high-quality subtitling to be provided.

I hope you have found this article useful 😊
